Bitcoin just had its biggest inflow week of the year

So why is it flat?

The Roundup is Rhino's weekly read for people who'd rather build a process than predict a price.

Something odd happened this week.

Bitcoin exchange-traded funds just had their best week of 2026 with around $2.4 billion rushing in, meaning that now, money invested in Bitcoin ETFs in 2026 have outpaced the money taken out. That kind of flow should have sent the price flying.

But Bitcoin barely budged. It’s sitting around $84,000, close to where it started last week.

What gives?

First, the macro backdrop is heavy.

The interest you can earn on US government bonds — the closest thing to a risk-free return — just hit its highest level in 19 years, pushing past 5%. When the safest money in the world pays 5%, every riskier bet has to work harder to justify itself, and Bitcoin, which pays no yield at all, is competing directly against that.

To add fuel to this dynamic, the conflict between Iran and the US is heating up — again, which may cause inflation and force the Fed to increase interest rates again.

Second, the $2.4 billion isn’t as bullish as the headline. The money front-loaded hard with nearly a billion dollars on Monday, then a steady fade to barely $130 million by Friday.

Finally, some holders are cashing in. Many who bought near the ETF crowd’s average price — around $82,000 — have spent months underwater. This week they finally got back to breakeven, and plenty took the exit.

On paper, Bitcoin had every reason to fall — profit-taking, fading demand, brutal yields. But it didn’t. It held the line it reclaimed a week ago, and notched a second straight weekly close above its long-term average for the year which sits at around $78,000.

Flat isn’t boring here, however. Flat, under this much pressure, is Bitcoin quietly passing its first test since the trend turned last week.

The open question: is the ETF money real conviction, or a one-week splash?

That's what next week will tell us.
